Shouldn't the hospital give an annual comprehensive checkup for all the students? We have such checkups back in our home country. I think that it's necessary for uncovering hidden problems that the student is not aware of normally. --International
Dear International,
The Columbia University Health Services offers a wide range of medical services to its student population, including primary care, blood pressure checks, flu and immunization shots, dental care, birth control, sexually transmitted disease testing/treatment, and counseling services. There is no comprehensive annual exam offered, but there is a service available to students called a "Good Health Visit"-- a twenty minute visit with a doctor who performs a basic medical exam, checks your vital signs, and discusses your medical history with you. There are also annual gynecological exams offered by Primary Care Medical Services. Call 4-2284 for a free appointment.
